To those of you Humans and others who read [either in the regular or extra-large type version] The Daily Burst Of Brilliance Blog (which is neither daily, nor brilliant -- but which is a burst of some sort), we should, each of us take a moment every so often to ponder the introspective question..."Am I experiencing a simple mental decline or a flash of genius?"
The question is rhetorical. You can't really answer it yourself (your are subjectively immersed), and if you seek the advice of a professional, he or she will charge you a large fee to render a determination that is completely different than that of a another professional who will also charge you a large fee.
Nonetheless, I think that asking esoteric questions that cannot be definitively answered is interesting and fun. How about you? Am I talking to myself?
Here are some of the things which I have recently done, which bring this question to the fore:
1) I stopped at a STOP sign and waited for it to turn green;
2) I reached for a tube of toothpaste and started brushing. It took me almost a full minute to realize that I had actually located a tube of K-Y jelly [the opposite might have been worse -- especially if the toothpaste had been wintergreen-flavored];
3) I told my wife, after watching an extremely negative, mean-spirited and politically slanted newscast, "The thing that I hate the most is a hater!" She just stared at me.
There are other issues.
To name one, I find the notions of explosive diarrhea and projectile vomiting very humorous. To cite yet another, the older I get the less funny "myocardial infarction" sounds; this is wild because the first time I'd heard about it from my college roommate at State University I was incredulous for a moment, and then I had a fit of laughter which lasted the better part of an hour.
I don't truly know. I'll let you, my readers (and those of you who have this read to them), be the judges - I throw my diagnosis on the mercy of the Court of Public Opinion.
Please be kind.

p.s. They used to say that "absinthe makes the heart grow fonder." I can't say. I've never tried the stuff.
